This accredited course is organized around the study of various genres of literature, including novels, non-fiction expository texts, drama, and poetry. The course emphasizes instruction in the development of clear argumentation, support, and structure of analytical paragraphs and essays. Students will also be challenged to grow in their practical language skills through class discussions, formal and informal writing assignments, creative projects, and oral presentations. Students will continue to develop grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary skills.
Live class meetings: Mondays and Wednesdays, 2-3pm EST
This accredited course emphasizes the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are explored.
Live class meetings: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11am EST
This accredited course builds on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and trigonometric functions. The content of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams.

Khabral joins Atlanta’s education community by way of Oakland CA. As an experienced educator, he brings a wide variety of skills in tech, the arts, the sciences and math, as well as a deep understanding of how important it is to instill a love of learning in children. He credits his mother, a recently retired teacher in Auburn, AL, with giving him a strong and varied academic foundation, which helped him fall in love with learning too.
He has a B.A. degree in English from California State University Hayward, minoring in International Writ and Psychology, and to this day remains passionate about nation-building, community organizing and education.
Daly discovered a love for mathematics while studying engineering in his early college years. It was then that he began tutoring whenever the opportunity arose. After college, Daly worked for several years in construction, which provided him first hand experience with the practical applications of math. He possesses an enthusiasm for solving difficult problems and a love of teaching. Daly is a graduate of the Mississippi University for Women, in Columbus, MS.
Over the last 10 years, Mikala has taught middle and high school computer science and math courses, designed curriculum, and coached teachers around the world.
Prior to founding The LIFE School, she co-founded an educational technology company focused on college access. She is also a 4.0 Schools Fellow and a SXSWedu conference speaker.
She has a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a M.A. in Education (Learning, Design, and Technology) from Stanford University.
